Abstract

Summary: Two cases of neonatal trans fusion malaria are presented. The main clinical features were fever, diarrhoea, recurrent apnoea, anaemia and metabolic acidosis. Both patients responded satis factorily to chloroquine therapy. The report highlights some of the unusual clinical presentations associated with the disease and the need for appropriate guidelines on the management of infants at risk.
