Low Birthweight in Hausa Infants.

Abstract

 

Summary: The incidence of low birthweight among 3,890 live-born Hausa infants was 21.3%, being significantly higher in females (23.69) than in males (19-3%). The incidence appeared to be influenced by both maternal age as well as parity. Possible aetiological factors included multiple preg nancies, prematurity and toxaemia of pregnancy.
