Bacteriuria and other Urinary Abnormalities Among School Children in Kaduna.
Abstract
Summary: Urine examination carried out in 600 apparently healthy primary school children showed bacteriuria in i per cent, signifi cant proteinuria in 3.8 per cent, haematuria in 3.8 per cent, and pyuria in 4.5 per cent. Half of the children with bacteriuria had symptoms suggestive of urinary tract infection. Prescriptive screening for urinary tract infection did not appear worth while.
