Transverse-Longitudinal Study of Heights and Weights of Children in a Nigerian Village.
Abstract
Summary: Heights and weights, velocity of heights and weights of a group of village children, 0-5 years of age, measured serially between 1965 and 1975 are reported and compared with international standards and other groups re ported from the same area. Analysis of the growth pattern of the children revealed that babies with low birthweights remained small up to the age of five years but their velocities of gain in weight and height were much faster compared with the heavier ones.
