Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis in Enugu.
Abstract
Summary: Five cases of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) in children aged 3 - 13 years, seen at the University of Nigeria TeachingĀ Hospital, Enugu, between November 1977 and October 1985, are presented. This Lagal number represents 0.1% of the total number of cases reviewed for the period under posto study. Suggested possible reasons for the low incidence include genetic and racialĀ factors, and failure of the people to seek medical help in hospital whenever they are ill.
